Hi Kapamilya! It’s Kyra, your Director of Development. We have finally reached the last week of classes!! The school year is almost over and I can hardly believe it. Still, there’s a lot of Troy Phi programming where we can hang out with one another before the sem ends. I hope to see you all at our final OH, TP’s Bonfire, Banquet, and to say goodbye to our beloved seniors, Ice Breakers and PGrad. 🥹
I have loved serving as your Director of Development this school year. When I first came to USC three years ago, Troy Phi was the first place on campus to welcome me and make this university feel like home. I hope that I was able to make this organization feel that way for some of you, too. <3
Hang on for this last week of class, and going into study days. I believe in you all! Don’t forget to rest, and lean on one another for support. We can all do this!
This week is the Dev Team’s very last Dev Corner! Feel free to read some gratitude exercises from Lissa, and some end of the year reflections (and advice for underclassmen hehe) from me.
Good luck with everything TP fam!
Today’s Affirmation: I love the person I have worked so hard to become. Every situation gives me an opportunity to learn and grow.
All my love,
Kyra 💐🫂🫶
Practicing Gratitude: Lissa’s Care Column
Hi Kapamilya! Hope you are all having a wonderful last week of classes! As summer is approaching, we are transitioning into a new chapter in our lives. Life might feel like a blur as it is happening so fast, but it is important to take a deep breath and slow down a little. A great way to do this is to practice gratitude, taking the time to remember and appreciate the little things that make life beautiful. Here are some gratitude and mindfulness exercises you can integrate into your routine to help you practice gratitude and realize just how wonderful life can be as we approach a new summer season!
Make a list of everything you are grateful of from this school year
Create a mood board of things you are grateful for from school and one for this upcoming summer
Make a list of things you are excited and grateful for this upcoming summer
Tell at least one friend from school 3 things you appreciate about them
Immerse yourself outside in nature at least once a day to stay grounded
Right before you go to bed, make a list of at least 3 things you are grateful for today
Say thank you more! This can help strengthen your relationships and bring more smiles upon people’s faces
Try to do at least one kind act each day
Make a gratitude jar! Fill it up with post-it notes of things you are grateful for and everytime you are feeling down, read at least one card in the jar
Hope these practices help to add a bit of joy to your routines! Good luck during finals everyone, you’re all going to kill it, and I hope you all have amazing summers! I’m so grateful to have been an intern for TroyPhi’s Director of Development and I can’t wait to hear about everyone’s summer stories soon!
Signing off with love,
Lissa ♥️
Kyra’s End of Year Reflections
As the school year and my time on board comes to an end, I am also reflecting on my last semester of undergrad classes…. Just typing this I had to take a moment because that feels so crazy to write out 😭.. I will be starting the first year of USC OT school over at the Health Sciences Campus next semester (will still be a senior standing though technically.. So won’t be graduating yet!)!!
While of course, there is a lot of excitement and anticipation with what this next chapter holds, I can’t help but reflect on just how fast these past three years have flown by. How did that happen?! Freshman year still feels so vivid to me. It felt like I was living in my Birnkrant triple with my roommates (who are still my roomies to this day) not so long ago.

BK Days!! <3
I’m not sure if some of you can relate to this, but when I first came to USC, it always felt like college was going to be forever. Obviously, I knew that my time here would only be a few years, but graduation, grad school, and parting ways with my college friends felt like it was eons away. But in just a few months, we’ll all be seniors.
As I’ve had time to reflect on these past few months, I couldn’t help but weigh some “what ifs.” What if I joined this organization? What if I took that class? What if I asked that professor to do research? What if I applied for that job, what if I didn’t? What if I went out with the girls, instead of stressing out about that project?

Nemi Days 🥹
I try not to dwell too heavily on these questions, because at the end of the day, it’ll just be a never ending loop. And, everything in my life has happened for a reason. Even if I wanted to, I can’t go back and change things. And no matter the choices I made, I think I would always end up with some kind of “what if.”
What I can change is how I choose to live my life as I venture onto this next segment of it. A hard pill to swallow has been that time, as unlimited as it may feel, is just not. It might feel easier to avoid thinking about how things come to an end, but it can also be incredibly helpful when you realize that endings are not necessarily a bad thing. This doesn’t mean hyperfixating on how much time you have left, but rather, it serves as a reminder to us that we should try to live our lives to the fullest extent, doing the things that we love, and being surrounded by the people that we love.

Junior Year Haus (and old TP crib LOL)!! 🏡🐣🐷🧑🌾
It’s much easier said than done, of course. But that’s how I want to try to see things as I enter my senior year.
Here’s some unsolicited advice I have for the underclassmen who might be reading this (shoutout if you have made it this far!! Mwah!!):
Obviously, we are enrolled at USC to get our degree and pursue an amazing education. By no means am I saying you shouldn’t prioritize your studies. BUT. Take some time to do things here that really matter to you. Get to know the professors who inspire you. Say yes to coffee with your friend, or yes to that late night sweet treat. Explore LA! Sit outside on campus on those sunny days. Go to your club meetings!! :))
You might think to yourself that there will always be next time, and while that may sometimes be true… why wait to make those memories? In the grand scheme of things, those are what you’ll always remember.
As I’m writing this, and the end of the school year does feel near, I am trying to be present. While I’m nervously anticipating senior year, it is not here yet. I am still a junior, I’m still with my friends. I’m going to make the most of my time in these remaining few weeks, as much as I am able.
All my love, as always.
Signing off,
Kyra <3
