Hey, it’s Lissa here! When it comes to self care, I especially find that designating a specific self-care day during the week to be helpful. Having a rest day, if you’re able to, where you can invest in your hobbies, yourself and or friends can be very beneficial for your mental health. I usually have these rest days on Saturdays where I decide to partake in around 3 or more self care acts that are unrelated to school.

Some things I personally like to do are sleep in, cook myself a hearty breakfast with a comforting matcha drink, binge Netflix while doing a facial mask, sunbathe outside, and eat a delicious dinner with friends. Whatever these acts are can vary per person, but making sure you invest in activities outside of school and work will surely warm your heart and bring peace to your mind.

What are some self-care activities you personally like to indulge in? Feel free to contact me at ifredric@usc.edu if you ever want to discuss or share self care ideas at all! I’d love to support you all in any way that I can! :)

Free yoga and fitness classes every month at the USC Village piazza starting this Saturday!

Mindful USC App

  • I recently downloaded this for PHED:119, an Introduction to Mindfulness course! For those of you new to meditation or interested in it at all, this is such a great resource that I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend! It really caters to the individual person. For example, it features a daily check in section for your emotions, a section to track your values, and meditations for all kinds of purposes. There is even a College Student Life Playlist featuring meditations titled “Letting Go” and “Resilience to Do Your Best.”

  • According to the Provost Office, “Mindful USC offers a wide variety of mindfulness-related classes, retreats and events that provide students, faculty, and staff with valuable tools to navigate the challenges and opportunities of university life!” These free classes have opened up, so be sure to take advantage of the opportunity and sign up while you can!

  • Need a quiet place to study? The KCLC is located on the third floor of the Student Union Building, room 311. They even have their own designated quiet room for students. As a center designated to empower students and their success, I highly recommend checking them out!

I hope you guys had a lot of fun at this past week’s GM! We’re so excited to see you Thursday for KAPA Speed Dating! Make sure to come through to find your potential kuyate/ading…
