Today’s affirmation: I am doing my best and release any feelings of guilt and shame.

Happy happy Spring, and happy April Kapamilya!! While it feels like this semester is flying by, I hope you are able to find moments to be present and practice gratitude!! Sending you strength and courage as you navigate this literal, next season, in your life. If you’re reading this, take this immediate second to check in with yourself. How are you feeling? What is something to be thankful for at this moment?

Something I’m thankful for is friendship and family! Last week, I was able to travel to Orlando for an OT conference and I was able to see the International Flower Festival at Walt Disney World Epcot just in time for Spring! I went on the trip with my dear friend Berenice, and we were able to grow our friendship and bonded so well! You’ll see some photos from the trip throughout this week’s Corner!

This week, hear some spring thoughts from Lissa and Jordan!

All my love,

Kyra

Blooming into a New Season: Lissa’s Journal Prompts for Spring

Wow, in a blink of an eye it’s already a little over a week into spring 2024! Although the semester is flying by, realize that you’ve grown a lot as an individual since the beginning of the year! Just like the PACN theme Kasibulan implies, you’re blooming into a stronger version of yourself, even if you don’t realize it! One way to recognize how you’ve blossomed over the past semester is by journaling. I find it to be very therapeutic and a great way to indulge in self care and keep yourself grounded. Here are some reflective journal prompts you can write or just think about as we enter this new season of spring! 💐💗

  • What self-care practices have been helpful throughout this semester that I hope to carry on into spring?

  • What new skills or knowledge have I gained since the start of the semester, and how have they enriched my life?

  • Have there been any challenges that I've experienced recently, and what lessons have I learned from them?

  • Reflecting on my relationships, how have they evolved or deepened over the past few months?

  • How have my goals and aspirations evolved over the last few months, and what steps will I take this spring to move closer to achieving them?

  • What am I most excited for during this new spring season?

I hope these prompts help you reflect and recognize how you’ve blossomed as a person! I’m rooting for you guys and am always here to help! Reach out to me at ifredric@usc.edu anytime you need anything and I hope you all have a wonderful spring season! :)

Spring Has Sprung: Jordan’s Care Column

Hello everyone and welcome back to Jordan’s Care Column. I also would like to wish everyone a HAPPY EASTER!

It’s finally springtime. It has been awhile since I’ve last written a column but it is good to be back. I genuinely love writing down my little thoughts about self-care and I would definitely say this is a form of stress relief for me. Anyways let’s get to the bulk of this week’s topic, SPRING!!!

I love everything about springtime. I love the fashion, the pretty flowers, the weather, and most of all, the springtime energy! I would describe this energy as something similar to the energy of New Years. What I mean by this is the feeling of new beginnings and an opportunity to make improvements within your life or just within yourself.

While there are many routes to choose from in regards to self-improvement as well as self-care, my personal favorite is to clean. However, since it is springtime, it’s called spring cleaning! This form of deep cleaning is exactly what I need to feel renewed. I also find that cleaning is very therapeutic and a form of self-care. I have noticed that the state of my room reflects the state of my mental health. So going the extra mile with deep cleaning always has a positive effect on my well-being. More specifically, the act of getting rid of things that are just cluttering up my space and they do not serve me anymore is truly a relieving feeling.

Well that’s all for my column and I hope everyone has a great week and a Happy Easter. I encourage everyone to do some spring-cleaning in order to clear up your mind and space.

Love,

Jordan
